The well-loved Hartford Art School alumni exhibition is a a terrific way for alumni to reconnect, and for the Hartford Art School to show off a little by presenting the work of its many talented and successful practicing alumni artists. Generally held in the fall, the alumni exhibition coincides with Hawktober Weekend, the University of Hartford’s Homecoming weekend celebration.
In 2014, in partnership with the Hartford Art School, the Silpe Gallery launched a new schedule for alumni exhibitions. In an effort to feature a larger variety of alumni—especially the alumni who might not typically submit work to juried exhibitions—we began the tradition of alumni-curated alumni exhibitions (ACAE).
We will now hold an open juried alumni exhibition every six years, with the intervening five years occupied by alumni-curated alumni shows.
Last year we kicked off the new schedule with Wonder + Awe, curated by Margaret Vaughan ’12. This fall we had Gilman. Pieper. Selwyn. Wenzel. 1968-2015 featuring work by Hartford Art School classmates Randy Gilman, Philip Pieper, Paul Selwyn, and David T. Wenzel, curated by Mike Scricco ’72.
The next open juried alumni exhibition will take place in the fall of 2019. Information on that exhibition and the dates of the open call will be posted here and on the Hartford Art School website.
An email will be sent to all HAS alumni, announcing the call for entries, so please make sure the University has your current email address. You can visit Anchor Online, the University of Hartford alumni page, to log into the Anchor community and update your email address.
