Announcing A Call for Entries

pink chipsThe Silpe Gallery at the University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School is proud to announce a call for entries for our 2016 juried show: PINK! a small works exhibition addressing the multi-faceted notion of what pink represents.

Is pink sexual? Feminine? Soft? Bold? Complimentary? Derogatory? How does pink make you feel?  What are the implications of the word “pink” in our modern language?  How would you describe pink to a person without sight?  Submissions need not include the color pink in order to be considered.

PINK! Is the Silpe Gallery’s third national juried exhibition open to all artists working in the continental United States. Works in all media will be accepted with a size limit of no more than 24” on the longest side. Works will be selected by our guest juror, illustrator, educator, and author, Kate Bingaman-Burt.

Works will be juried from digital images only, please visit pink.artcall.org to submit entries.

The jury fee is $35 for up to three entries. A maximum of three entries may be submitted per person.  From the selected entries, three will be chosen to receive the juror’s prizes of $300, $200, and $100.

Entries will be accepted online from 8 a.m. EST on December 28, 2015 through noon EST on Monday, February 15, 2016.

The exhibition of selected works will take place in the Hartford Art School’s Silpe Gallery on the campus of the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT from March 7-26, 2016.  A closing reception and awards presentation will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 4-6 PM in the Silpe Gallery.

Available works will be presented for sale during the exhibition.
